Empowering Public Speaking by Deanna L. Fassett and Keith Nainby; Introduction to 21st Century Counseling: A Multicultural and Social Justice Approach by S. Kent Butler, Anna Flores Locke, and Joel M. Filmore; Making Black Lives Matter: Confronting Anti-Black Racism edited by Kevin Cokley; Thinking Like a Researcher: An Engaged Introduction to Communication Research Methods by Jake Harwood; and Who Am I? Identity in the Age of Consumer DNA Testing by Anita Kathy Foeman and Bessie Lee Lawton have received 2022 Most Promising New Textbook Awards.
A Race is a Nice Thing to Have is one of twelve textbooks to earn a 2022 McGuffey Longevity Award. The award recognizes textbooks and learning materials whose excellence have been demonstrated over time. To be nominated, a work must have been in print for 15 years and still be selling. The award bears the name of William Holmes McGuffey, whose influential primers, which first appeared in 1836, helped bring the United States out of frontier illiteracy.

Of the twenty textbooks who received Most Promising New Textbook Awards from the TAA, five of the award-winning volumes are published by Cognella.
