New/Revised Edition

For all new and revised editions of your title, the Cognella Revisions and Creative teams will convene to review your previous cover, discuss significant changes in content for the new/revised edition, and talk through the goals for the project.

Many new and revised edition covers do not vary significantly from the original concept, but may reflect a color change or image change, while the remaining aspects of the design are unchanged. The new edition will still be clearly differentiated from the previous edition, making it easy for students to recognize.

If it’s determined that your new edition needs a redesigned cover, your designer will implement minor typography updates, color scheme changes, and image changes (if needed) to clearly differentiate your title from its previous editions. You will receive one entirely new design concept proof that is comparable to what you would receive for a first edition.

The book description for your new or revised edition will likely be similar to that of your previous editions, but will highlight significant changes to your book’s content, new topical areas, new organizational or pedagogical features, etc. Your name display, affiliation, and author biography can also be updated, if needed.

Below is an example of a standard cover update between editions.
