Distribution of Difficulty

Plan for the following distribution of Bloom’s levels and difficulty levels:

  • 50% of questions ask students to remember or understand information (easy – medium)
  • 30% of questions ask students to apply the information to a new situation (medium)
  • 20% of questions ask students to analyze at a higher level (medium – hard)

Remember and Understand (Easy – Medium)

These questions should include basic identification of key terms and concepts, as well as a demonstration of understanding what the concepts do or do not cover. While both question types can be beneficial, prioritize moving students toward higher-order thinking skills.
