New Release – Health Promotion: A Guide to Providing Proactive and Holistic Care by Elizabeth Pratt

San Diego, CA – August 4, 2025 – Cognella Academic Publishing is proud to announce the publication of Health Promotion: A Guide to Providing Proactive and Holistic Care by Elizabeth Pratt.

The book equips nurses with the knowledge and tools they need to integrate health promotion into patient care and help those they treat to live a healthier life. It emphasizes the importance of preventative care, including concepts of health restoration and maintenance in all age ranges and health situations.

The book fosters a foundational comprehension of health promotion and then progresses to introduce specific topics such as social determinants of health, environmental influences on health, implicit bias, health education and screenings, common health issues, and considerations for special populations. Additional chapters address complementary, alternative, and integrative health; competency in caring for cultural groups; digital media in nursing practice; and self-care. Each topic is explored through personal and professional experiences and examples, encouraging self-reflection and application of the material to real-world practice. Additionally, key terms, objectives, knowledge checks, and QR codes with resources for further learning enrich the reading and educational experiences.

Featuring material that incorporates considerations of health equity, literacy, cultural competency, and the applicability of Complementary and Alternative Medicines (CAM) alongside traditional perspectives, Health Promotion is ideal for undergraduate courses and programs in health promotion, community and public health, and holistic nursing care.

“Pratt has written a book that students will want to hang on to as an everyday reference when they become professionals.”
Steven McCorkle, MS, MPH, Arizona State University at Lake Havasu
