Question Level and Difficulty

Quizzing can be more than a memorization test. Determine the objectives you’d like to include in each set of questions. Consider Bloom’s Taxonomy:

In an auto-graded quiz format, we recommend including questions that ask students to remember, understand, apply, and analyze information and ideas.

Information-Heavy Courses

For information-heavy courses, plan for the following distribution:

  • 50% of questions ask students to remember or understand information
  • 30% of questions ask students to apply the information to a new situation
  • 20% of questions ask students to perform higher-level analysis
