Design Aesthetic Samples
This refers to a figure that has been provided by an author or drafted in-house and which serves as a visual model for a single figure or as a design example off which all artwork for the book should be aesthetically based.
Illustrative Images
This is a before image: the author’s sketch of the information they would like presented in the figure.
This is a before image: the design aesthetic sample the author provided to give our team an idea of how they wanted the figure to be adapted to appear in color.
This is an after image: the final figure as re-illustrated by Cognella.
Reference Figures
Reference figures are images or figures overlaid with an author’s mark-up (labels, arrows, or drawings) that will be consolidated or enhanced by Cognella for publication. The following is an example of two figures an author found in Cognella’s pre-cleared image resources and then marked up with arrows to indicate their linkage.
