Annotated Bibliography Assignment
This annotated bibliography assignment will help students review articles, texts, and/or web-based resources relevant to a selected topic in preparation for writing a longer research-based paper or presentation.
Scaffolded Practice Activity: Formulating an Argument
This activity will help students construct an initial argument that includes a thesis statement, three pieces of evidence, a counterargument, two rebuttals, and a concluding statement.
Discussion Board: Peer Review
This discussion board facilitates an exchange of drafts for peer review. Students will upload their drafts, review and comment on peers’ drafts, and then reflect on the feedback they receive.
Independent Research and Response Assignment
This scaffolded assignment encourages students to select a topic covered in the chapter, research it online, evaluate the reliability of the sources they discover, and write a response.
