In your Marketing Questionnaire, you’ll have the opportunity to share specific information and ideas that will be used to develop the artistic concept for your cover. This may include color preferences, sample images, and even examples of other covers you’ve seen and liked. We’ll also ask your help in identifying the book’s key themes and approaches that should be represented. Our cover designers will build upon the information you provide to produce a cover that not only reflects the spirit of your book in a unique and attractive way but is also well-suited for the academic textbook market.
The team has extensive experience creating book covers for new and innovative textbooks in the academic market, and they are adept at working with authors to transform initial concepts into relevant and engaging cover designs.
In addition, your project editor will walk you through what to expect during the cover design process, from the timing to the number of proofs you’ll receive to the rounds of revision you can anticipate. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact your project editor.
Please keep in mind that we typically reserve the fully designed cover for first editions. For preliminary editions, your designer will provide a clean and appealing design concept with one primary image, which will be used in a closed-classroom setting. They will ask for your feedback on this initial design and then work with you to develop the imagery and overall concept in preparation for your first edition launch.
