The Cognella Digital Library was developed to help instructors discover high-quality, low-cost content to use in their publishing projects. It includes thousands of pre-cleared readings from Cognella publisher partners offered at reduced rates. OpenStax is the first publisher partner to offer its free OER to Cognella authors through the Cognella Digital Library.
“As the COVID-19 pandemic results in economic uncertainty for individuals across the country, it’s more important than ever to provide students with affordable resources so they can continue to study and succeed,” said Cognella CEO Bassim Hamadeh. “We’re proud to offer our authors high-quality OER content through OpenStax. Using this material can significantly decrease costs for students and increase their ability to achieve their academic goals.”
Prospective and existing Cognella authors can now search the Cognella Digital Library to find peer-reviewed content published by OpenStax in the disciplines of business, humanities, math, science, and social sciences. OpenStax content can be included within Cognella textbooks, anthologies, custom course materials, and Cognella Active Learning environments.
“As courses move to the online classroom, we’re especially excited to offer OpenStax textbooks paired with Cognella Active Learning activities,” said Rose Tawy, Senior Acquisitions Manager, Cognella Active Learning. “An OER textbook coupled with an affordable suite of online lectures, scenarios, interactive maps, quizzes, and more can provide students with robust and dynamic learning materials at a fraction of the price.”
