Team

Haley joined the Cognella Active Learning team in 2017 and has since helped a multitude of authors across the disciplines develop interactive online exercises to complement their textbook curriculum. She holds a B.A. in communications research from the University of Washington. After graduation, Haley completed a marketing internship and worked with Nielsen Research, leveraging advertising research for consumer-based surveys, as well as managing research projects for an independent firm. In her role as Active Learning project editor with Cognella, she is honored to help authors and professors create impactful exercises that provide students with pathways to learning and varied modes of learning.

Rachel joined the Cognella Active Learning team in 2020. She is an experienced instructional designer, instructor, and project manager. Rachel holds two bachelor’s degrees from the University of Utah and an M.A. and Ph.D. in English from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her instructional design work builds on over a decade of teaching literature and writing, both in person and online. In addition, she ran a freelance instructional design and editorial business, at which she developed educational content for a variety of student audiences, for several years.

Alaina joined Cognella in 2017 as a seasonal licensing associate, moved on to join the production team as a seasonal production assistant, and officially joined the team as an editorial assistant for Cognella Active Learning. She now serves as an eLearning specialist, a position that allows her to flex her problem-solving skills and develop online activities that meet instructors’ goals for their students and curriculum. Alaina boasts a background in digital media with emphasis in pre- and post-production video and photography. She holds a B.A. in visual arts from the University of California San Diego.

Chelsey leads the Active Learning team for Cognella, driving the development of interactive online content. Previously, she worked as a journalist and a teacher, including teaching abroad in the Czech Republic and Japan. At Cognella, Chelsey started in a title marketing role before transitioning to product management and helping to launch our Active Learning division. She earned a B.A. in communication from Trinity University. In her free time, you’ll find Chelsey swimming in the ocean, looking for garibaldi and leopard sharks.

Rose joined the Cognella team in 2009. She has a robust background in higher education instruction, curriculum design, and student affairs and administrative services, and has also served as a writer, reviewer, and acquisitions editor within the publishing industry. She led the Cognella Custom and Cognella Active Learning imprints for six years and now collaborates directly with faculty as a senior instructional designer. Rose’s formal education experience includes a B.A. in English and political science from the University of California, Santa Barbara, a master’s program in literature and a graduate certificate in community college teaching from San Diego State University, and an advanced certificate in instructional design from the Online Learning Consortium
