Quick Guide: Complex Flashcards

These specialized flashcards prompt students to self-check their recall of terms or concepts. They may support visual and/or auditory content through the inclusion of images and/or audio clips.

Note:

  • Each deck may include audio content or student text entry on all cards (not both). These elements cannot be mixed and matched within individual decks.
  • Third-party content from Spotify may not be used in these activities.
  • To include special characters on cards (e.g., formulas, equations), see Quick Guide: Using LaTeX for Cognella Active Learning.

Reminder: Working with Audio Recordings and Images

Before developing any content related to audio recordings and/or images, please see Quick Guide: Selecting and Recording Audio and Active Learning Image Guide. Record these resources in the relevant audio log and/or image log, and submit the log(s) to your Active Learning project editor.

Accessibility Requirement

In consideration of meeting accessibility requirements, any instructional image used in an activity must be accompanied by alternative text (alt text). Alt text is a term used to describe text that is read by a screen reader in place of an image. When a screen reader encounters an image within an activity, it will skip over it unless there is alt text provided to read in its place. This renders the activity incomprehensible.

See Quick Guide: Writing Alt Text for further guidance.
