Creating Your Perfect Custom Course Materials

Step 1: Pick your readings.

Select the readings, from any publisher, that you’d like to include in your course pack. As you find readings you’d like to use, add them to your reading list. This document will help our team gather and organize your readings.

To help instructors find high-quality, low-cost readings, we developed the Cognella Digital Library, which includes thousands of pre-cleared readings from our notable publisher partners offered at reduced rates. Explore the library to find exciting, new content, save readings to a list of Favorites, or build a reading list for your course pack.

Before you explore the library, check out these helpful tips to ensure you have the best experience possible.

Step 2: Get an estimate.

We can perform an initial licensing review and provide you with a price estimate. Based on this estimate, you can adjust the readings included in your course pack to fit your budget.

In order to perform a review and issue an estimate, we’ll need the following bibliographic information for each reading you select:

Step 3: Submit final materials.

To reserve a spot in our production queue, log in or create a Cognella Connect account. Once logged in, follow the instructions on your dashboard to submit your project details and upload your materials. To save time, you can create a zip file of your reading list and individual readings, then upload the zip file. You can submit individual or zip files up to 100MB in size.

We accept the following document format types:

Text .txt, .doc, .docx, .pdf

Images .jpeg, .png, .jpg

Other .xls, .xlsx, .zip

If you do not have access to a scanner to make copies of the readings you’d like to include in your course pack, please let your project editor know and we can send you a prepaid shipping label so you can send us hard copies of the readings to scan in-house.

Step 4: We do the rest.

Our professional team will handle all aspects of the copyright clearance process, build your course pack, and send a proof of your course pack for your review.
